Having recently moved to Grass Valley from Oakland, California with my wife and 2 chihuahuas, I am happy to announce the opening of my educational services to the Sierra Foothills. I have dedicated myself to enriching the educational lives of children for the past 30 years. I work mainly with K - 8 students but I'm also happy to assist older students in improving study skills, spelling, and academic writing. 

My beginnings in Montessori education taught me the enduring principles of personalization, scaffolding, and explicit instruction. My later studies in philosophy inform a pedagogical stance rooted in creative thinking and deep inquiry. It is these ideas, plus the importance of the use of manipulative materials, that inform everything that I do in my practice. I am comfortable working in your home, my home office, virtually, or  in your child's school.  I successfully remediate reading/phonics, creative and formal writing, mathematics, study/test taking skills, or executive functioning skills for students from Kindergarten to 8th grade and beyond. I am also skilled in several educational assessments. Though these assessments cannot replace a formal neuropsychological examination, they can provide valuable insights into any blocks your child may be experiencing in school.
