Paul's Story

Paul McNees

My journey as an educator started in the 4th grade. It was at the ripe old age of 10 that I was blessed with the experience of having a teacher who truly got me. That was when I knew I wanted to become a teacher.

My career started in a Montessori school. I learned quickly and realized that I had an uncanny knack for making concepts come alive for my students.

It was almost 17 years into my career that I began to search for something more.

I wanted to learn more about the kids in my class who were struggling. I realized that I didn't fully understand why some of my students were unable to learn to read, despite my best efforts. So I went back to school and earned my Master's degree in Educational Therapy. I have been working with and learning from students with learning differences ever since.

I'm now bringing all of that experience and passion for education into my new home in Nevada County, Ca.

Testimonials

My 6th grade son worked with Paul for the majority of his school year, and it made a tremendous difference both for my son and for us as parents. Paul was organized, patient, skilled, and he went above and beyond when it came to how he worked with my son. He not only helped him with executive functioning skills and his math homework, he also assessed what skills were missing/less strong and then helped him build up his foundation of understanding. Paul helped us understand how my son learns, and he shared many effective homework and academic strategies. As a parent I noticed that my stress levels greatly decreased and my son's happiness with his school accomplishments increased with Paul's support. I spent less time battling over homework and more time enjoying and supporting my son and nurturing our relationship. I highly recommend Paul.
